What does this gathering offer?
While most workshops on any shamanic practice have been built around those sets of practices which are performed by the elder in acts of healing for the community, this 5-day workshop looks at those core practices which the shaman personally engages in for her/his own spiritual transformation.
The Shamanic Tradition believes that healing means “transformed in relationship with the ecosystem”, and does not see healing as a cure. Not limited to mind, body and spirit of self, but also all animals and spirit beings are part of this ecosystem.
This workshop is meant for those who wish to go beyond the exoteric, to really understand themselves as spirits and to feel the oneness of all Spirits in the Cosmos.
Core Practices for Spiritual Transformation based on Shamanic Traditions would be:
- Practice of Sacred Acts: Nature Rituals
- Practice of Intoning / Sounds (subtle and gross vibrations of body, spirit, cosmos and drumming)
- Practice of Spirit Journeying/ Practice of Lucidity in Waking and Dreaming States
- Practice of Birthing or un-conditioning
- Practice of Intuition / Healing
- Practice of Entering (points of awareness) and one-spirit vision

About the workshop Facilitator:
Koitso Salil Mukhia (born Koitso Mizong) - was initiated into Shamanism at a young age. He belongs to the Koits Tribe (Rainbow Tribe), one of the linguistic tribes of the Kirant Community in the eastern Himalayas.
When he was young, he was forced to go through Jiu Bannu, to disallow him to perform certain Shamanic rites. However, a Shaman by birth and interest, he felt deeply connected and passionate about this, and continued studying and practicing as much as he could. Even as Salil began to take interest in music, he was drawn to explore music and sounds related to nature and to the traditions of communities close to forests and mountains. With this he felt an urge to connect to customs and oral traditions of his community; customs that are slowly dying out. For this, he and his friend Ms. Barkha Henry started projects to bring this heritage back from near extinction.
Acoustic Traditional, a non-profit organization, was started to work on the idea of conserving folklore of the dying indigenous communities to safeguard indigenous knowledge and wisdom. The organization also works towards breaking the myths that people hold about indigenous communities and educating about the relevance of ancient spiritual traditions in the modern context. It is a 5 day residential workshop starting from 18th November to 22nd November, 2015.

Like many spaces around India and around the world, Swaraj University, the Swapathgami Network and Acoustic Traditional are experimenting and working with rethinking our lifestyles and our relationship with ourselves, our work, our resources and our communities. We are questioning, challenging and experimenting with our set notion of money.

By participating in such workshops you are in a non-monetary way supporting / encouraging such learning spaces to stay alive. You also are, in a beautiful way, taking forward the larger movement of reclaiming our learning in our own hands.
However, it is important that we all contribute to take care of the needs of the facilitators and meet the actual expenses for hosting such a workshop. The cost of participating in this workshop is Rs. 4300. By contributing this, you would also, partly be helping others who find it hard to access these spaces because of financial constraints. In addition, this contribution will support the current project of Acoustic Traditional in documenting stories of the Kurumba tribe in the Nilgiri hills in the southern Karnataka.
